Case Study: Hertfordshire Police Force
Hertfordshire Police Force contacted VIT to supply a unique mobile video camera with lights - for use in crowd control situations and vehicle pursuits - to obtain high-quality evidential footage in all weathers.
Hertfordshire Police wanted a piece of equipment that would stand the rigors of everyday use while conforming to health and safety regulations, especially if the unit was to become dislodged in a crash. The camera system needed to provide high definition quality images and be controllable from within the vehicle with a capability to rotate 360° continuously to capture images from around the vehicle.
Other operating factors such as designing the unit so it stayed clean during everyday operation were crucial to the successful capture of evidential quality images and imperative for practical operation. VIT Innovation designed and patented the vehicle-mounted pan, tilt and zoom camera, which has been successfully used by the Hertfordshire Police force.
